PAAACT HISTORY
AAACT’s mission is to ensure African American students, and their families have equitable access to information, resources, and opportunities leading to academic success and college and career readiness. Our commitment is demonstrated through our ongoing parental workshops, staff training, strengthened relationship with Contra Costa County school districts, organizations, and vendors that provide vital resources to African American students and there
families. The services that we provide include education, training and advocacy for educational inclusivity and access for African American families. Our work is centered on access, educational rights, and equitable treatment of students of color and those with special needs. Our services include parental training/workshops, tutoring including academic support for students with disabilities, mediation for parents, college and career planning, restorative justice, and serving as liaisons between school and families. We also host cultural celebrations, and career/trade fairs for students with special needs. Our program focuses on providing students with special needs equitable access to resources and opportunities beyond high school which will be enhanced with the support of this funding. It is our intent to use this program to support the training of families on services available for students with special needs and tools to navigate systems effectively. We also plan to host a career/trade fair and establish an internship program for students with special needs. |
PAAACT is the organization spearheaded by Ms. Marsh. The goal is to encourage African American parents to play more of role in their child's education in the PUSD. Studies show that a parent involvement in their child's education means they have better success. Parent seminars are held to educate parents on topics that make their families better which in turn makes our community better. |
